中国人民大学社会学理论与方法研究中心郑杭生教授认为，中国社会学在大力推进社会学本土化，在创造学术话语、把握学术话语权方面，走过了从不自觉到自觉的长期探索之路。更好地掌握学术话语权，并在理论自觉基础上达致学术话语权的制高点，这是中国社会学从世界学术格局边陲走向中心的一条必由之路。

Zheng Hangsheng, from the Center for Studies of Sociological Theory and Method of Renmin University of China, believes that Chinese sociology has undertaken an odyssey from unconsciousness to consciousness in promoting the localization of sociology, creating academic discourse and grasping academic discourse power. To move from the periphery to the center, Chinese sociology must gain a better control of discourse power and reach the commanding heights of discourse power on a basis of theoretical consciousness.
